The artist is Live

Inspired by the iconic performance ‘The artist is present’ by Marina Abramovic, the artist Faisal Anwar is presenting ‘The artist is Live’ a silent performance to inviting online visitors to observe him with hundreds of live mobile and desktop steaming cameras, devices on an open platform.

In Abramovic performance, she pushed the limits of the body, mind, and explored the complex relationship between the artist and audience, discovering an emotional, intellectual and physical connection when in close physical proximity.  Anwar’s performance builds upon the artist's vulnerability with invisible distance,  connecting timezones and the virtual and real adaptations in present digital global culture. His performance is a comment on the nature of connections and relationships in the virtual space, the illusion of power and the growing culture of misinformation and online aggression.  In the short experimental performance, Anwar invites audiences to observe him from the comfort of their own homes and discover if a connection is made.
